Memento - Erasmus Students Exhibition in Enschede, The Netherlands

For my Memento project I am making spinning plates that when turned create an optical illusion.

The pattern on the plate is a geometric shape that i photographed at the science museum in Glasgow. At the Memento exhibition at the Bookhuis in the centre of Enschede there will be 9 of them mounted on the wall for people to interact with.

The realation that the spinning plates have to the notion of memories is that when gazing into the moving pattern the viewer can reflect on whatever thoughts come to mind when they are looking. The moving pattern can be quite thought provoking as it lures you into a spiralling trance. I look forward to seeing 9 of them moving together.
