Experimentation with Film

Hans Richters film reminds me of some of the shapes you can see used in the work of Jaygo Bloom. The music for the piece is by the painter Karel appel whose work I have visited before in at the Cobra museum for contemporary art in Amstelveen, just outside Amsterdam :)

This is a clip from a film called Dreams that money can buy. It's directed by Hans Richter but is made with a collection of fragments from artists working in the avant garde movement. This is Marcel Duchamps input and the music is by John Cage. As you can see Duchamp has used oe of his beautiful optical machines to make this work.

John Whitney Matrix iii. I don't know a lot about this work other than it inspired early computer graphics and Whitney is highly regarded in the pioneering of computer graphics and art.
